Stone

We buried a stone
as if it was your cold heart,
as if it was a seed
that a mountain might sprout from.
We will germinate it with a love
it understands; let it listen
to water's words, allow the vowels
of a stream to wash over it,
rounding and reforming
its sharper sides.
And when it shoots grey leaves
that thrust their foliage of rock
to the sky, we will feed it ice and clouds
and show it to the eagles.

THat is so sweet - cor! the vowels of a stream! *faints* - must read again...It would be soft of the rock to not feel the tenderness in this - grey shoots - nice, silvery reeds came to mind, as do river trees - lovely poem!

What a great idea that
What a great idea that metaphor is, for burying a stone as if it were a cold heart, as if it were a seed that a mountain might sprout from. Such powerful lines.
Then the tenderness of germinating it with love.
Really liked this poem for its attention to detail and thought.
Jenny.

this one made me think of white witches, wanting to make something good , using nature and time, to heal. I like the smoothing of water vowels too :0)
