Early Morning Farm

Coyotes are restless
with their calling
as echoes of boldness
reach our dogs.
Misty and Storm sprint
to attention
aroused from sleep
protective woofs keeping
intruders at bay.
Sheep are anxious while
they munch knowing
all will soon be well.
Eeyore is on the prowl
examines each edge
of forest - eyes piercing
morning mist.
He’s donkey alert
to the ways
of these marauders
hurrying to send them
on their way.
Two alert llamas
pause from nibbling aspen
leaves - listening for the
confusion of barking
dogs and coyotes
to also settle down-
cows are finally calm
invaders chased beyond
a domain intact once again.

Just goes to show
Just goes to show, a dog is a man's best friend! What is your favourite dog breed Richard? They say the most popular breed worldwide is a Labrador retriever. When I was young I had a Rottweiler - Doberman cross. Bloodthirsty murderous a killer. Good watchdog but don't get one.
All the best and wish I was in your shoes, Country boy! Tom

South-Africa and Corona
Richard I haven't really been following the news closely.
Things don't look good. It seems the leaders (rulers?) are really getting out of touch with the ordinary citizen's and voters' needs and expectations and the best example is the foolhardy regulations on tobacco.
After two months the sale of all tobacco products are still stubbornly prohibited. For a start, one would think it would be better to pacify people at home really it is hard enough as it is. It seems now to have even become a question of individual personal interests. They also plan opening schools the end of the month this is impossible.
Good news is that church and religious gatherings such as funerals have much more freedom now.
The number of known infections is escalating at an alarming rate but these are not good indicators of the prevalence. I would say mortality numbers are a much better indicator of the spread and development in a given situation as simply practical and considering the methods which these statistics are measured and determined.
Many shops have opened in the meantime regulations have been relaxed considerably from total lockdown and this is very pleasing, people all are glad but one wonders if it necessarily is such a great idea. Anyway there's no choice.
With winter cold, TB and HIV and just increasing poverty for a large part of our population it is a grim picture. One fears too for civil unrest.
Richard I hope news from Canada is better?
