Little Miss Capable:
sat at the table,
“Please may I munch
an orange for lunch?
I can peel it myself OK.”
She stuck in her thumb,
and saw the juice run,
then the peel she pulled quickly away,
(not much of the juice went astray!).

Thanks, Jenny. I hoped it would make some smiles! It is based on a real incident, and the thumb being used to break the satsuma skin reminded me of the Jack Horner nursery rhyme! Rhiannon

No, the phrasing to munch is poetic licence, maybe? She probably just asked for an orange, so that she could munch the segments! The oranges she meant were satsumas with loose skin, and the way to start peeling the skin is by breaking it with a thumb!

In the nursery rhyme, Jack Horner stis in a corner and puts in his thumb to the pie, to pull ou a plum. So, the parody! Rhiannon
