Imagine all the people
who are crying for John today
remembering the musician
who shared his dream of peace
and universal brotherhood,
hoping that the message
was heard and understood.
 
Four decades have now passed
since a deranged individual,
whose name was David,
struck, without just cause,
a veritable Goliath.
It is common knowledge
that John Lennon was myopic.
 
Might it be that his vision
of everlasting friendship
was blurred or utopic?
The globe is forever in turmoil
with no prospect of goodwill
and when all's said and done,
the world is not yet as one.

I remember his death well and where I was at the time. Such a tragic loss of such a talanted music writer. His music lives on in our hearts.

There are events that are so vivid in our memory that we remember where we were and what we were doing when they occurred. Although I recall Kennedy's assassination in minute details I can't say the same for John Lennon's incident.

I have never liked the song of John Lennon, “imagine there is no heaven” already goes against the grain.

“Imagine no possessions, no countries, a brotherhood of man, all the people sharing all the world.”

This is clearly communism. It surprises me the the song is so popular Bob Marley was far more convincing.

I can understand that a believer in life after death may dislike the sentiments expressed in John Lennon's song 'Imagine' as they go, as you say, against the grain. On the other hand agnostics and atheists may agree with his philosophy.
I think that most people will accept the concept of brotherhood, of people leaving in harmony without fighting and killing each other.
Why should 'no possessions'  and 'all the people sharing all the world' represent communism? Don't you remember Saint Francis of Assisi? He grew up leading a privileged life as the son of a wealthy cloth merchant but gave up wealth to live a life of poverty and commune with nature and animals.
Perhaps we should read between the lines to grasp the true meaning of the message.
You must forgive my ignorance but what did Bob Marley say to sound more convincing?

We're having now blackouts again they call it "load-shedding". How are things in Italy? In the beginning the corona was very bad there now they don't carry on like that? Much the same kind of situation here. Apparantly we moved from sixth place to fourteenth in infection rates well that's good at least. Also apparantly we have amazing recovery rates they say over 90%

I still have faith in our President, Cyril Ramaphosa. We will pull it through.

Hi Nolan
I don't exactly know what the situation is regarding the lockdown as I live in the UK but I understand that it is similar to other countries affected with particular emphasis on high-risk areas.
Let's keep our hopes for a good resolution.
