The King of kings defeats King Herod’s plan

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

God worked his purpose, saved despite
King Herod’s evil scheme.
He sent to Joseph to take flight –
preserve Christ to redeem.

Just so, for years God had prepared
and prophesied his plan,
and now ensures the Word is shared,
not stopped by schemes of man.

Some countries hope to clear their land
of Christians (though they are
good citizens) – God’s church will stand
by grace, not disappear.

And our responsibility
is the response of faith
beneath God’s certain sovereignty,
to serve him on his earth.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. History has proved the church is strongest when it is persecuted. Simply a historic fact. Jesus was safe as the Bank of England in his manger if the whole of Bethlehem might burn down and every infant in Judah is murdered. It was God. God Himself protected his baby.

Thank you. Yes, God is able to protect, and fulfilled our redemption despite the plans of Satan and those with malice against Jesus, and so we can have courage and hope, and a great week through all! Rhiannon
