God promised …

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
A future descendant will deal with the devil,
that snake who so slyly has drawn you to evil,
to question My kindness, deceive you with lies,
pretending rebellion would make you so wise.
The perfect world broken, and suffering began
with all labour harder for woman and man,
and when comes this Saviour, with Satan to deal,
his head Christ will strike, Satan nips at Christ’s heel.
His power now broken, as yet he’s still free
to cause with his minions some vile devilry.
He knows that God’s purpose is being fulfilled,
his mischief we soon will see utterly stilled.
‘ I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.’ Genesis 3:15
Tune: 11 11 11 11 eg Houghton

factual history?
Lovely words Rhiannon! Powerful stuff. But I just wonder whether you believe the fall to sin in Eden and banishment account literally, and also explaining the origin and the existence of evil in this world. Do you believe as you say you do of Creation, in other words do you think all of it as factual history?
Or wasn't it perhaps meant rather as symbolic and metaphor, which would certainly not necessarily detract any truth. Personally I really would not want to commit myself. I just wonder it just sounds a bit far fetched honestly.
The Bible teaching and prophesies of the Messiah remain of course central as essential and crucial to the faith and truth of Christianity, and in these it is clear the facts are meant as literal.
Enjoy your week! &&

your explanation
Thanks for explaining. Will have to think about it a bit, apart from that I'll rather not say anything.
