The Salmon River
no longer has salmon
yet continues to run
drawing hikers
on parallel trails to
water sprinting in-between.
A flow that
reflects dreams as we
settle on its banks.
Once canoes
thrived on rowdy
currents thrusting our
fibreglass at speeds
beyond shadowy crows
in flight
and when day is done
memories sung
we lay at rest
complete in knowing
the world can be
at peace once more.
