I understand. by MarciaMarcia
the wild beast’s roars
as they stand in sway or lay rocking
beside their lost
their lost partner
their lost parent
their lost sibling
their lost cub
I understand the wild beast’s body next to body
rhythmically rocking…..
back and forth
pushing futilely
coaxing the lifeless back to life
their bellowing
reverberating roars
from the depths of wound-ripping pain…..
separation
their snouts breathe in the fading feramons that enabled a new pack
their untamed, untrained limbs
nudging, pushing under lymp legs, lymp thighs, and hooves
once rumbling the dusted earth
they lay upon now
I understand the wild beast’s stay…..
endlessly grieving
some for days
some for weeks
some forever…..
unable to abandon their lost
dying there.....they lay beside
This primal grieving is all the wild beasts know
of the moment
of the moment after
of the moments
after the after
Their roars, cries of the pained severing abandonment
exist in space between
time and time
I understand…the wild beasts…
I rock.....
in this place of loss
of no day, no night
no up, no down
no left, no right
no light
only dark envelops
endless hours
of breathing human
an incompleteness of any comprehension….
of reason…..of reasons.
and from my mouth
cavernous and open
comes decibel’s, deafening primal roar…
rising from depths
of inner hollow
not known by me, before
I understand the wild beast’s roars
You…..
are my lost…..
You…..
are no more
I…..
am emptiness
alone

I am so sorry to hear that.

It conveys vividly the
It conveys vividly the violence of the break in separation, the physical trauma, and emotional rupture, even when there is faith for the future near and far.
As Di says, it helps us understand your hard situation. I pray you both find comfort and the memories are sweet as well as grieving. Rhiannon
