Every day she wakes at 7,
today it will be 6.
“Breakfast at 8,”
but that will be too late
today
and the snack will have to be at 10
instead of 11.
Maybe we can stretch out
the morning’s end
so lunchtime can come
at the usual 1
(not 12)
then all the kids and you and me
will be shifted to GMT!
and tomorrow our routine can again resume
at 7 (or thereabouts)
with her rising rousing happy shouts.

It's extraordinary how much
It's extraordinary how much we notice even an hour isn't it? (even adults!)

I'm never quite sure what
I'm never quite sure what time it is on any day of the year, and often even what day it is. Also, I live in a different time zone to my family and probably most of the people I communicate with on the Internet. And to top it all I live in a country that's years behind the times. I feel like I've gained and lost my extra hour several times in the space of a week.

I always enjoy your poems
I always enjoy your poems about seeming small domestic things, maybe because as they unite us all, they are actually very important
I love "her rising, rousing happpy shouts" (although hope they are not rousing you at 7 :0)
Good to see you writing again, too :0) Hope you are feeling better every day

I would think it is a good idea
I would think it is a good idea to be a bit flexible and not have a too rigid schedule. Life is often very unpredictable!
