A Storm of Blue Jays

A Storm of Blue Jays
escaped ahead of the early
signs of an oncoming
hurricane style rain storm–
worst in this century an
announcer gasped.
Their heaving feathers must
move more rapidly
to warn other members
of their flock
and the storm continued
unabated in its desire
to swamp boats in
many harbours – spread
water across the land
in great supply and with
intensity undercut
highways & cut off bridges.
Eventually the storm arrived
subsided – water drained
sun illuminated and people
returned to damaged
homes
& not far away birds of
all descriptions sleep soundly.

I thought of you when hearing
I thought of you when hearing about the terrible floods in Canada, I hope you and your family are ok? I know here, all the birds shelter in undergrowth near the ground when it's windy

One foot sounds AWEFUL! I
One foot sounds AWEFUL! I did not know it was even possible to have four feet of rain. And coming up to Winter too. Hardship for wildlife as you say, and all the people and farm animals. Wild birds in your garden will be so very glad of your kindness feeding them, is one lot of suffering eased. Am very glad to hear you are OK
