Maybe an example of juxtapostion, the Christmas cracker's contents usually being a bit of a disappointment and the chestnut revealing a thing of immense beauty as it splits open.

I enjoyed this. It made me think.

Turlough, thankyou! That's exactly what I hoped :0) I made an advent calender years ago, with the alphabet on the doors, and 2 inch high paintings of Christmas related things beginning with the relevant letters? It was fun to make (mouse eating mince pie etc), But took ages, and not at all professional enough to sell which had been the plan
