Ciao nonna

My dad is resting now
I fell asleep drooling on the bed
Which I'm sure you would find
Most undignified
We dressed you in your fancy coat
With shiny black buttons
A silk scarf, grey with yellow roses
So many scarves, all pure silk
In church, my dad said
If saints are meek, that was not the case
My mother was determined,
With unflinching faith and work ethic
The smiles you gave me until the end
And bountiful blessings and prayers
Nonna, though I flinch like a branch
Pushed around by the Mistral wind
That rattled the city on the weekend you died
You are half of my roots, you keep me steady

'though I flinch like a branch

A very strong & consice evocation of feeling and emotion towards your dear Nonna. Best wishes to you.

A wonderful tribute. Like
A wonderful tribute. Like Kilb, I loved the reference to the Mistral. It sounds as though she will indeed be with you as you go on.

A touching tribute and, I
A touching tribute and, I imagine, made at a time when feelings are still raw. I am so sorry for your loss. I have no doubt that your nonna would love these words. Paul
