Saved a life

What's that black mess lying in a heap
Is it what l think it is, a dying, little bee?
Wings tight-shut lying flat against its back
Wonder if l helped a bit, it's life would get on track
Gently does it, picking it up then tippy toe outside
Plop in on a lavender bush, its claws grip, oh so tight
Guzzling in the pollen, wiping a powdery face
Come on now, you hungry chap, l have to leave this place
Ten minutes later l headed back, to see if it survived
Goodness gracious, look at that, is he actually double the size?
Wings are spread and buzzing loudly, flying off, alive
