[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Healing displayed, healing to come

Christ had compassion, not contempt
upon a leper, ill, unkempt,
He touched him – no infection passed,
but for the leper, joy at last:
from Jesus cleansing flowed to cure
the symptoms he’d had to endure.

A man was paralysed, his friends
who heard that Jesus heals and mends
all disabilities and pain,
approached the house – it seemed in vain
– they couldn’t pass the crowd, but then
down through the roof they lowered him.

First, Jesus pardoned him – some sneered,
‘That’s blasphemy!’, their thinking jeered
– he then healed this paralysis
(– one day he’ll right all that’s amiss):
he is divine, as thus he showed,
grace, mercy is by him bestowed.        (based on Luke 5:12-26)

Yes he is divine, as thus he showed, grace, mercy is by him bestowed.

You also think of the samaritan woman who only had to touch the hem of is cloak, from Jesus cleansing flowed to cure. If I may quote you!

Thank you. Yes, power divine and compassion, though full healing may not come for many yet, but always grace to cope for the present. I don't think the lady who touched his cloak was said to be a Samaritan, though, but he helped the Samaritan woman at the well and she was amazed about what he knew about her past!

Are you where the torrential rain and mud slips are happening?

Yes there were floods again in KwaZulu-Natal but not quite as bad as last time. Here in Gauteng not really. I don't know about mud slides we don't really get them in SA. But it was cold, and rained most of the weekend which is very unusual for us in winter, it could be climate cage.

But with the icy cold our electricity Escom had to implement load shedding a few times recently. That means regular scheduled power outages for a few days when they can't cope. Fortunately very predictable.

You were right about the miracle the woman touching the hem of Jesus's cloak I was thinking of something else. In fact the word Samaritan surprisingly occurs just once or twice in the whole Bible. Literally.
