Sweet Violet you're truly

humble...yet wild, with

your concealed roots

advancing further into

the earth;

 

shoots increase in strength

where peace transcends,

no airs or graces upon this

land; but a fragrance that

sets you apart.

 

Your kingdom is the wood

or edge of busy meadow,

where seductive fragrant

perfume is unique token

of nature's essence

quintessential.

Hi insert,

I'm so happy you liked this poem, and the cherries made my day. Thank you so much.

I'm feeling a lot better today, but the intense heat has been giving me headaches and aches and pains all over. I do miss my walks too, have tried getting up at 4am to walk around the garden, but I'm always so tired. I have found that warming Lemsips have really helped, even cooling me down slightly. Just glad it's cooler today. 

But thank you for asking and your good wishes are all very much appreciated.

Hi Paul,

it's kind of you to stop by and read my poem. Whenever I think of Violets, it always reminds me of a shop in Glastonbury that sold beautiful bottles of perfume in fancy boxes, or even the Violet sweets we used to get as children, they had such a distinct flavour...and I loved them.

Glad you enjoyed reading. Yes I'm feeling a lot better today, now that it's cooler.

So sorry to hear you are not well. But you make me think you are strong and irrepressable as a wildflower unfurling new petals even when it's been walked on, to make lovely poems when you are feeling low

Good evening Di,

It was a horrible three days of feeling extremely uncomfortable with such throbbing headaches and body aches, like having the flu without the cold. But I'm feeling so much better today, actually managed to walk around the garden a little bit, but felt very weak as I haven't eaten properly for two days.

All I can say is roll on Autumn, or cooler conditions, heat just doesn't agree with me at all.

I do hope you're right and I'm as strong and irrepressable as a wild flower. Always I try to bounce back...she says smiling. smiley

This poem came to me while reading about the mythology behind the Violet, which is always an interesting subject for me. My partner knows so much about so many things, but I'm just learning now through writing poetry. But I do find it hard to retain information, so it's always good to have the internet to look things up about history.

Enough of my ramblings. Thank you for your good health wishes and kind words on this poem. It's always lovely to hear from you.

That sounds aweful! Hopefully you will have strong immunity now to whatever it was so will sail through if it comes around again. Glad it was cooler for you today and hope you feel better enough to sleep

Hello Di, thank you so much for your concern. I found out this morning that there's a bug going around where I live called Norovirus, I checked out the symptoms, it sounded exactly like my symptoms, so I'm thinking that's what my ailment was.

It's definitely a lot cooler here today, just wish it would stay like this till Autumn.

I hope everything is fine with you, and you're enjoying the fine weather, which I'm sure you love. Take care and thanks again.

One of those flowers that repays so much to stop and look down, and such a delight as they appear, with such rich colour early in spring. You draw our attention to it in this poem.

Where we were away mid-Wales, the heat couldn't have been so intense, and it was welcome after a very cold weekend, but on returning to the caravan we had to open all the windows as it acted as a glasshouse, and had to avoid sitting next to the window! And then it turned a bit cooler, and rain, but rain that when it stopped left the views clear, not misty, so that was good too! Sorry you find the heat difficult, but as you say it probably was made worse by a virus or some-such.

I'm so glad you were able to get away and enjoy a holiday despite the weather. I'm sure the break must have done you the world of good.

Thank goodness the weather is a lot cooler now, and I can go for my street walks, it's very invigorating in the wind, like being by the sea. When the trees blow, it's like the waves lapping the beach...well in my imagination anyway.

Wonderful! What is heather Jenny? It is also purple? We hear of these flowers never really knowing what they are.There are other common purple flowers too I think? By the way we have your "african violet".

Thank you for reading Nolan. Heather is found on heaths and is very hardy, with standing even the harshest of conditions. These wild violets are so pretty in their own way, just like the African violets too.

I am fine thank you, but finding the heat we're experiencing at the moment hard to cope with, but that's probably because in England we're not used to such high tempertures...roll on Autumn is all I can really say.
