Note: When I get the time I'm designing cover art
One other note: This was not written by someone who has experienced being deaf, if anybody who knows what it's like is offended or had any constructive criticism please let me know, I'll put it into consideration!
Preview/Summary: Olivia Violetta was a deaf 14 year old but went into a coma a few weeks after her fourteenth birthday. Her coma lasted for a year then she woke up and suddenly could hear again, this story takes place 2 years after she woke up and still is getting use to being able to hear sounds of her world. She doesn't particularly enjoy it aside from one sound.
(story starts here)
Dear Diary, I can't believe just a few years ago I couldn't hear. I never knew how loud cars were, and how annoying my little brother Joseph screams. I'm already 17, yet I've only spent two years with the full experience of life, sounds and all. Other than my hearing ability I'm the same old shy girl in the book club, all my friends said that my voice was so beautiful when I read and only now until I got to hear it. And that's why I made you, Diary, I love reading and writing but I can't think of storylines for my own books. So then I just write about my life, maybe one day it'll be discovered and they'll use it to write a biography about me!
I have some new stories for you today Diary, so listen close..
I went to school this morning and I walked into my classroom.
(To be continued)
[See up there, yeah that was a lie. Gradually I'll continue making stories on this site but i had a mental block with this one and overall forgot about it. I'm sorry for anyone who wanted to read more of it but I'm afraid this is the end of this story. -- Your-Fav-Author]
[9/15/2024, I've deciding to begin this story over. I find genuine interest in exploring the premises with my grown view of reading/writing. Anyone who wants to still read the original, I'm keeping it and starting anew in a new story page. See you guys there!]

strange new world
Things like that do happen I think of a friend's son. Your Olivia must be incredibly intelligent to adapt to such an altogether "new" world. School, kids and other people and things in general. And in effect having "lost" such critical years of her youth. It would take great courage.
It must be terrible being deaf or hard of hearing I think you must be emotionally cut off. Must feel like you're isolated and in your own world. And extremely frustrated! And now you are still the same being discriminated as ever with employment and because employers want people with visible disabilities and obviously so for the quotas. More just for the show it would be in England also.
Great to see you writing again! Glad you're well, just be yourself.

You have updated
You have updated and I really don't think anybody will be offended by your story. Will have to wait and see.
I've known hard of hearing and deaf people as well, they don't like it to be made fun of especially how some speak one must be extra sensitive. I had some girl friends there at sign language studies as part of the linguistics department, hard working, very kind and understanding.
They were very good to me. My own voice is a bit deep the hard of hearing battle with that and I forget the company sometimes.
It takes great courage competing at such disadvantage and on par, people with a disability just want to be treated like any other person. Sadly even today many people have to hide a disability. These days they can do a lot for people with medical intervention you would be surprised.
All the best, happy writing! Tom Brown
