Downton on the Rock (15/10/22)
Up past the old buildings,
look back across the valley and further
near hill, far hlll
then on up old parkland – sturdy trees planted spaced out,
including an avenue;
some have died, some more recently planted
first autumnal tints among the greenery
all hard blown today
first pattern of golds and browns on the grass;
over the top and see hills westward, shades of grey
kites flying around, can’t capture them with camera,
elusive rainbow
sloes in the hedge, walk along the ridge,
soon views southwards
– nice to so quickly get on top of the world!
– back down across long stubble field, long shadows in the afternoon sunlight
pheasants scuttle in and out of sweetcorn shelter
(and out on to the lanes, families run along in centre:
no road sense, occasional small corpse).

I don't live in a pedestrian
I don't live in a pedestrian friendly city so I go to the zoo or the arboretum and take my walks there. This felt like Fall . Felt like Fall here too. Yesterday was lows in the lower 80s, thick and breezy; this morning it was clear windy and in the lower 40s. Florida weather is bi-polar.
Much obliged for the read
