World Pasta Day

Today, there's only one word
that I wish to say: it's hooray!
Because, as everybody knows,
we celebrate World Pasta Day.
We pay homage to spaghetti.
farfalle, penne, ravioli, rigatoni
and linguine, but don't forget
the delicious filled cannelloni.
These are a cylindrical type
of lasagne, filled with cheese
called ricotta, plus spinach;
a dish that can't fail to please.
All these alimentary dishes
differ in shapes and sizes
but every one is deserving
of prestigious culinary prizes.
With an egg, flour and potatoes,
we make gnocchi and, hey presto,
they will melt in your mouth,
served with abundant pesto
For condiments, bolognaise
or tomato sauce is fine
but no meal can be enjoyed
without a good bottle of wine.

Is it regional? Here, in the States, Yankees like a slice of cheddar cheese on their slice of apple pie, but in the South, hell no, only topping for a slice of apple pie is a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
