Winter's Grip

Coating of early morning
frost displayed,
signaling departure
autumn's golden cheer,
hard bitten evergreens
where blackbird
and robin
contentedly harvest berries,
while stiff limbs
release their burden,
and footprints
are stored,
snow has lost its grip
as day moves on,
ceasing at sigh
of thaw.

I loved "footprints are stored"! I was thinking my feet were a bit like those typewriter hammers which hit the paper when letter keys are pressed down, but stored is PERFECT, it has time in it, too
