The baby born in stable stall
and grown to be a carpenter,
respected by his siblings all
and parents, neighbours living there,
knew when his heavenly Father’s time
had come to teach the Word divine.
Baptised by John – his cousin knew
that He was great, come to fulfil
God’s promised work, and raise to view
His character, His love, His will.
John told, “Prepare them for this King:
‘Repent, and truly turn from sin!’”
So Jesus of God’s kingdom taught,
and quietly revealed his power,
kind miracles surprising wrought,
spoke to disciples of the hour
that soon would come when he would be
rejected, as in prophecy.
At first his siblings thought him mad,
but later on realised the truth
The early church by James was led,
– half-brother of Jesus in his youth.
He’d met, like others, risen from death,
his brother-Lord, the King of earth.
