the frog pond at equinox
By JupiterMoon

the frog pool at equinox
a pool, of deep
brown velour,
sumptuous folds
catch clouds in reverse,
a wish of sunlight
tucked in at the bottom
then movement –
ripples part, with peeping eyes
and a low rumble,
a damp call, and
the fast forest reeds
bend asway
it is early, the hour of runners
who still smell of bed,
of panting dogs,
it is early enough, to have
happened upon the gallivanting
of mating frogs
i lose count, somewhere
around thirty-nine happy frogs,
some ride others, some move alone,
nutcracker legs sluice the water,
as spring, paints every memory of green
over the banks

Your poem reminds me of the
Your poem reminds me of the many frogs that lingered around our pond we once had, there were so many hopping around, with many tadpoles still swimming.
Like your poem...nature at its best...a real Spring Equinox Beauty.
