A Flower is Not a Flower

All flowers are brushed
with sadness. All memory
fades to dark.
Even those with bright
colours wilt in the balmy air
of happiness.
You taught me that beauty
and harmony exist
in the simplest of forms.
That the shape of things
can change. Perfection
is all around.
A flower, you said, is not
a flower. (Oh, there are
so many questions,
dear sensei, for us all
to ponder!) Let us say
then that our world
is a mystery, patiently
waiting to be unlocked
in the same
way that a geisha’s song
echoes at night
on the mountain.

Very nice tribute
to an amazing musician and composer. YMO taught me to look at music differently.
