Arms and the Man

The right to bear arms,
that's meant for security
should not cause alarms
if used with integrity.
But if one day a jerk,
bearing a handgun,
suddenly goes berserk
and shoots someone
it would be evident
that he has abused
the Second Amendment
with the weapon he used.
Though the main aim
for guns is self-defense,
if the purpose is to maim
it doesn't make sense
to stockpile an arsenal
of deadly armaments
that could be terminal
following arguments.
Not only can they
do one a mischief
but can also be a way
to cause much grief.

Hi Luigi,
Hi Luigi,
I hope I never come into contact with a weapon of any description, they scare the life out of me.
A relevant poem for the times we live in.

Reading this brutally honest
Reading this brutally honest poem I was reminded of a statistic (at that time six years ago) given by a visiting police officer to the school at which I was teaching. 70% of knife crime victims in the UK the victim was the knife carrier...

Guns are made for killing.
Guns are made for killing. They're no use for anything else at all.
I know an old man who has an old dog called Kalashnikov. This makes me laugh a little. Apart from that I can't think of anything good to say about guns.
A good poem Luigi. Good on you.

Aye Luigi, that 'defence
Aye Luigi, that 'defence purposes' clause makes me wonder where the gun carriers are when it comes to defending the victims of all their school and shopping centre massacres.

History has proved
History has proved that when weapons are made they are used. Apart from that the police tell us that most people are killed by their own guns.
It's only you that can make poem out of it. Cheers! Tom

I think it's clear to everyone including Americans
the second ammendment is out dated. Written at a time shortly after the war of independence from Britain and no doubt a concern the Brits would come back for another attempt, it was undoubtably necessary.
Also taking into account the vastness of a largley wild North America at the time it was clear weapons were needed for hunting to get food and self protection from wild animals and (controversially) indiginous inhabitants.
However, as the country "eventually" got through it's growing pains (civil wars & frontier wars etc) the logical thing to do was to rescind the second ammendment or at least re-vamp it make sure only federally approved organisation members could carry firearms. Sadly that never happened.
Due to politics and the power of capital profit common sense was assassinated by rifle fire.
Or to put it another way; the 2nd ammendment shot itself in the foot.
Thought provoking indeed, Luigi! (certainly made me think anyway )
