Beneath My Favourite Tree

In summer that's still and
so silent, squirrel munches
till rustle of swish from tall
hazelnut tree as blackbird
catches sight of me,
my intention was never to
startle...just wanted brief
encounter to be fleshed
out; willingness of nature
just this once to meet me
halfway,
so I slipped beneath Maple
tree in sheltered hideout –
waiting in silence; gazed
through assembled leaves,
limbs reveal chirrup like
custodian alerting danger;
then there was silence once
more.
Sitting here contemplating
neighbouring apple tree in
late summer, magpies and
crows will feast on gown
so fruitful; before fall of
Autumn's swell...
then winter's nakedness
those weaving branches
chill to frost, revelation
to developing buds that
rest in limbo till spring's
first caress.

It's a wonderful thing to
It's a wonderful thing to have a favourite tree. But you need to be secretive about it in case the others find out.
These are nice, descriptive words Jenny. An enjoyable read.

a favourite tree isn't going to run away any time soon., Jenny. Great to honour it

So is the maple the favourie?
So is the maple the favourite? for sitting under anyway!
I liked gown so fruitful; before fall of Autumn's swell...
and developing buds that rest in limbo till spring's first caress.

"... before fall of Autumn's swell.."
A sweep through the seasons done so adroitly. Beautiful imagery and sentiments. Nicely done, Jenny. Paul :)

All this makes me think
All this makes me think of Newton, according to the story he discovered the Law of Gravity seeing an apple falling from the tree. Romantic hey? There probably is some truth to it. Einstein discovered his "law of gravity" sitting in a barber's chair.
See you Jenny, all the best! Have a good day! Tom
