Collaborations don't work

This is enough, all the mums say.
Everyone knew someone at primary school
who pushed on the roundabout too hard.
'It would be easier if this child was not
in the same class as my child' they say
at parent's evening to a teacher who googles
new jobs in traffic. 'It would be easier if my son
in Year 4 and my daughter in Year 2 could only
be with quiet, good children who appreciate
the subtext and occassional problematic vocabulary
of the authors my partner and I read when we
were their age. It would be good if my brilliant
son and my appealing daughter who can code
and bring delight to people of any age were given
the chance to shine. We are so worried these other people
sometimes need attention that they sometimes need extra bits,
sometimes I feel I'm being over the top sending these emails
at 2 o'clock in the morning can you please just do something
about the other people. Press send.

Says so much
... gently, as you usually do.

a teacher who googles
a teacher who googles
new jobs in traffic
