Above Pencombe, a cold day

Ramble around Hegdon Hill in the cold,
views over gentle country east to the Malverns,
west to the far Black Mountains,
sunlight rays streaming down from heavy cloud,
and some rain around.
Wood anemones (Granny’s nightcaps)
on the way up and
a lone violet,
Lovely banks of primroses,
frisky lambs higher up,
but down in the village the celandines
were closed and tight: too little sunlight,
(and too cold?), so no sparkle, just scrawny!

Another enjoyable ramble with you, Rhiannon. Lovely and evocative.
Maybe the time of the celandines is coming..

It sounds like you had an invigorating walk. The scenery looked so inviting with those black mountains in the distant east. The frisky lambs must have been a pleasure to come across too.
Lovely to read and imagine being there too.
Hope you don't mind think I'm being picky Rhiannon. But shouldn't the date read: 23/03/24? Just I thought if you were looking back in a years time, the date might have been important.
Thank you for sharing your walk, it was a pleasure to read.
Jenny.
