The Root of All Evil

I am truly delighted
to see the sunshine.
After months of rain
the weather is fine.
The climate is changing
and that is why
there have been floods
in Brazil and Dubai.
The peril to gardens
is not the weevil;
a torrential rain
is the root of all evil.
I was disappointed
by miserly crops
of flowers and grains
like barley and hops
but was surprised
to find a single spud
that had survived
in the watery mud.

I agree with insert; the picture of that cheerful potato made me smile too, but of course the poem has a more serious message woven into its rhythmic tempo...this climate is changing, and what we once took for granted is now something rare…the survival of a lone spud is a miracle and a wake up call. But even if we wake up, I’m not sure what can be done now. I’m not a gloom and doom person in fact, I always look for the silver lining, but a silver lining has become harder to find.

Can imagine how good
Can imagine how good the pototo feels coming out from under ground, as you say from mud to clean breath clear skies and sunshine. My brother's CB handle was "Potato King" loves potatoes spud, chips mash anything. Can't live without, like in the great Irish potato famine.
Little guy had his turn, poor little guy like just to be cooked and eaten. Not fair.
Cheers! Tom

Nature has a way of surviving
Nature has a way of surviving exemplified by that lone spud.
My OH is convinced that all of the rain is due to cloud-seeding over in Dubai. She could be right, who knows. We have had extraordinary amounts of rainfall for months now and....well.....it's pouring down again today!
Nicely done, Luigi. Take care in all the water. Paul
