A friend she has three cats. They are indoor cats, so they never go outside.

Her beloved elderly cat, became very sick and had to be put down. She was told, “It will cost £250, to put her down and if you also want her ashes back,” Which she did, “The total will be £400.”

That is daylight robbery! That greedy vets is one minute from my home. So, she had to leave her beloved cat there.

RIP.

It's emotional blackmail. The vets know that people with raw emotions will find the money.

We just bury ours in the garden. There's even a space for me. It's just beside the redcurrant bushes. I would have preferred to be beneath the walnut tree but there are so many roots it would be difficult to dig a hole. I don't want to put anyone to any trouble.

it IS emotional blackmail! She is Very attached to her Cats. She is unemployed. I'm sorry for your loss of your pet that you have just burried. No I realized I read that wrong, you meant when yours die you bury them in the garden. My husband he does the same. Even our huge St Bernard is in there we have a massive garden. All our cats and all our dogs over the decades they are all there. The St Bernard she was put down at the vets and then we took her home. I don't know if they do it now still,  but both our children were there too and myself, when she was put down, we all cried.

My Husband his Mum used to say, "Bury me anywhere, just make sure I have my panties on!"  You must have a big garden too if there is a space for you by the redcurrant bushes. I still hope you get your wish and be by the lovely walnut tree.

In my will I have asked to be creamated. Meghan asked me recently if I wanted to be scattered in Malta I said no that will be too expensive for the family, just go at night and scatter me by the bushes at my favourite TKMaxx stores.

Our garden is indeed very big. Friends tell us it is more like a park than a garden. We have hundreds of trees so maybe to be buried under one of the smaller walnuts will be a possibility, though I'd prefer the big ancient one that I often sit beneath on a bench to breathe in the atmosphere of Balkan village life or to write.

The only crematorium in Bulgaria is in Sofia, 230 kms away from where we live so the hole in the ground option is the best one in our circumstances. There's nothing to stop us being buried in the garden apart from the fact that it adds a few complications to selling the land in the future. 

It's a custom here that people are buried within twenty-four hours of their death. This is mainly because of the climate and an almost total absence of refrigerated morgues, The only exceptions are when the police require an autopsy. At least my kids in England won't need to worry about writing a eulogy for me because they won't be able to get here in time for the funeral.

However, I'm quietly confident that there will be many more days of sitting beneath that tree.

I'm glad you have a big garden. I love beautiful gardens and parks, they are a good place to be inspired. Nothing beats the perfect place to write. For me, it is sitting here on the sofa, but if is late, and after work, I tend to fall asleep, so day time is best for me, or after after I have woken up after I fell asleep on the sofa!

The crem is a long way away. and with hundreds of trees you would be spoilt for choice of where to be laid to rest. IF you were to be laid there, if it was deep enough, you wouldn't have to say anything when or if the land was sold.  Our home full of animals in the garden, will be past on to our kids, it is in my Will, it is fully paid for, so it would be up to the both of them what they wanted to do, I assume they would sell it and split the cost in two.

24 hours! That is Quick! Everyone would still be in shock, but as you say it is because of the heat and not enough 'fridges'.

TKMaxx they sell everything. like clothes, one-offs, so it could be Folk, a dress that would cost £300 in the Folk shop, TKMaxx would get one and they would have it on sale for £50 but that is too much for me, so after a while say 2 months TKMaxx would reduce it to £35 then if still not sold, it would be recuded to (for example) £15 then if I am lucky enough to be there at the right shop and time, having kept my eye on it for 2 months, then I would buy it for £15. In England here they have the Yellow Sticker Sale, this is the last 2 weeks in January. So I book off as holiday and I go around the various ones near and far where I live, one is very far so I only go there once.  I saw a £300 thick leather laptop case, that was the price on it, TKMaxx had bought it and it was on for £150.00 far too expensive for me,  it was now in the yellow sticker sale, to after abut 6 days the price would then go down, then about 3 days after that, it will go down again, lots of people they are looking for  bargains too, each one has their own reasons, either to resell on eBay, or take to a car boot or for themselves. This awesome case in this one shop I kept my eye on as I did on different TKMaxx stores, kept my eyes on other differnt things. I would pop in regular for you never knew when they would be reduced again. and on the last day whatever is not still sold, is almost given away. On the last day, I got my thick leather laptop case for £10 that was Very expensive for the last day when fab things they are 70p or there about, so that was why it was snap up by me. That brand is Jensen. I keep my laptop and tablet in there. I  love it. I have bought many linen dresses and clothes in the yellow sticker sales and have tied and dyed them. In the past when I then sold them, I would only buy them if they were 100% perfect with the tags. While other people Drink, or Gamble or Smoke, or go on expensive holidays or spend hundreds on botox, clothes or make up, I go to TKMaxx in the sales or when I get paid. It makes Life interesting that we are all different with different interests. My likes and dislikes is not the same as yours, the same as my Husband we are chalk and cheese. It was he who got me into writing on ABC, but sadly now he has stopped, he did Very well on here, his level and standard of English is Very good compared to mine. He has a Degree in Fine Art, so he does that now.

At work Some Staff call me TKMaxine. I love that. Hence to be scatttered in the bushes of some of their car park  shops (secretly at night) would be a fitting tribute.

Dear TR Maxine,

Do you realise that your latest comment is about ten times longer than your original story? That's impressive. Thank you for enlightening me though. I used to work near a branch of TR Maxx in Bristol but, suspecting that it didn't sell books or records, I never went inside the place. Now I know!

I didn't know your husband wrote for ABCtales. May I ask his username please? Is it MR Maxx? I'd be very interested to read some of his stuff.

smiley That made me Smile, that my comment is 10 times longer than my story. I always have SO much to say, those who work with me (some of them the older ones, will say in a joke give me the Short Version) smiley

and my husband too. When I start to tell a story I will say It will be a quick short story, Some will Time me with a stop watch and say you got 2 minutes smiley in general that is Impossible but I DO shock some people when I tell a story in ONE minute smiley but that is very rare.

David Jasmin-Green is my Husband on ABC Tales he is The Walrus he was a Cherry Giver he made me proud. We were skint at the time, and he would say to me excitedly "I have another Cherry, I wish it was Money." I told him when he was offered the job of reading and giving Cherries I told him never to give one to me, I want my Cherries from People who don't know me, he said, ok even though he went through the same Pain I did, that I wrote about.
