Fading, but happy – 105!

Emotional and vague,
but seeming to appreciate
and have some idea whom
the presents were from.
A card from the King
(one from his mother five years ago!)
Big gold 1, and 0 and 5 golden balloons
(why did the 5 keep reversing?)
A beautiful cake baked by the cook,
and hand-decorated by the kind
and gifted Activities’ Lady:
a 1, a 0 and a 5
(and thoughtfully provided
alternative vegan caterpillar cakes
for the young great-grand-child with dairy allergy).
Hand decorated glass candlestick
(with the same numerical legend)
some lavender, some sweet peas,
raspberries, a plant,
a huge bouquet,
and other cards
– some touchy-feely amazing well-made
home-made constructions,
and one great-grand-daughter’s offering
headed ‘You’re 100 and 5!’
The staff gather and join us in singing
‘Happy Birthday’ as the grandson
played the violin.

What an amazing achievement
What an amazing achievement to reach 105 Rhiannon. I love how the family really take the time to make her birthday so special. It's having a loving famiily like yours that's so important, even though she's not always sure of what's going on, It's nice to have the staff joining in too, it must be a very special place to spend those fading years.
Loved reading these moments to treasure.
Jenny.
