The Seasonal Years …
By Rhiannonw

The spring of youth is bright and keen,
enjoying vigour and new things seen,
growing, blossoming, with smiles for all,
though sometimes follies bring a fall.
The summer of maturity
with much hard work for family,
long days of heat, but fruit, preparing
for harder times to come of weakening.
The summer imperceptibly is ending,
our path towards an end is wending.
Still to be useful in our autumn days
we pray, with longing upward gaze –
to break through winter to eternal spring
by grace to where there is no climate-warming thing,
nor viruses or wars or hate:
our Maker says to trust and wait.
[IP: the end of summer]

That's a thoughtful sweep through the seasons, Rhiannon.
Let's hope the last stanza comes true.
Very nicely done, as always.

You tie in the seasons with life stages very well. I had not thought of bringing up children as being like harvest, but you are absolutely right.

I can't believe I nearly missed this lovely poem Rhiannon. I love the hope that your words bring in the last stanza. I'm looking forward to the Autumn and Winter months though, it's nice to rest and prepare for Spring.
Very much enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
