Visions Carried On The Wind

Sombre billows shed their weeping,
pitter – patter teeters window pane;
listening to healing descent of rain.
In this quiet room where darkness
chills; solitude immerses visions,
liaison with spirit of inspiration.
Autumn forest wonders fill the air;
mist of blithe rays will once more
shine through dryads naked limbs,
where baby oaks in innocence stand;
while overhead no longer crowned
in summer shade sacred giants rise;
their wisdom reinforced with age,
powerful nymphs from trunks have
felt clinging ivy twist – restraining –
climbing; lying in dark shadows
when fabric of twilight fades on
stormy nights, and imprints of
history get washed away in ravaged
tempest.
Do creatures of the night perceive
apparitions? Or am I just floating
with golden dead leaves that will
soon be forgotten...carried on the
wind.

Another wonderful nature poem
Another wonderful nature poem, Jenny. Almost Gothic (which I love).
The last stanza is ethereal and...well...perfect.

Hi Jenny
I can't say I ever heard of Dryads but I like the idea of Oak and other trees having nymphs to care for them. It reminds me of when my uncle took me and Dad to a small wood where it was said the birds never go. It was eerie and totally silent. Maybe the trees had lost ther nymphs.
I like the wistful feeling of this and the suble rhymes you have used.
Thank you

Wooooooo!!!!
Do creatures of the night perceive apparitions?
What a wonderfully thought provoking question. Is it only humans that have a fear of the dark? Could it be that ghosts are scared of humans and that is why we rarely see them?
Another great poem here. Nice one Jenny!
