June: a hollow woman
Wraps in rapid rabbit leaves
Her bald daughter frail as meat,
As soft and poison-wet
In life as pondweed.
To cure some vast loneliness,
They recommend mountains.
An open window, as required;
The table, blank for scrubbing.
A sniffing blackness,
Framing jaunty lemon scents,
Collects the warmth
Dripping down from lampshades.
The sallow crowd gathers
To heave, retract, pulse.
Each ripple cherishes a sigh,
As, drawing curtains on the day
In stiff sharp strokes,
She packs herself away.

i'm not an expert on 20th century poetry
I'm not an expert on 20th century poetry but this looks excellent. Quite a pleasure to read. A lot of your work makes me think of Bob Dylan. If he doesn't mind me saying so ...
Good to see you again! &

the hole in your soul
"To cure some vast loneliness,' 'An open window, as required; 'Each ripple cherishes a sigh, the great longing', to be belong to some ...not alone.
The only way to fill the emptiness is not minding your own company.
Excelent work Morwenan! Nolan &
