Underbelly

You ask me to wait, so I wait
and commune with the earthworms
raising their nubs skywards
in the vaulted park.
Their divine filtration
mulches up a pink soil scent
and the numinous looms
among the gull-wing shadows.
My coffee runs aground;
from my workbag, I unearth a satsuma
long past the point of solidity.
The fragrant mould has softened my notebook
fermenting my words
and sending fresh phrases to seed.

I love how you conjure trees
I love how you conjure trees with "vaulted". And the long majestic sounds of "numinous looms" and "gull", contrasting with your coffee grounds pun (I liked that too) and the satsuma no longer solid. I can easily imagine finding a mouldy satsuma in the bottom of a bag, but would never ever come up with such a gorgeous piece of writing about it

Worms, Caffeine, and Words
The worms are penetrating; the caffeine is grounding, and the words are a revelation. A well-written verse. Have a very cherry day!
