Dedicated to Lou

Flowers bloom and a crown adorns your head,
I will never forget these years when you were happiest in mummy and daddy’s bed.
A princess gifted to us from the fairies, or so we would have you believe,
At the blissful age of two.
Daughter,
As you grow,
Never let the world break your stride or take your pride,
And remember the years when you were happy with Mum and Dad.
I will always wipe your tears, as your mum,
And tell you the same to hush your fears.
Remember these words,
Life is not designed to be fair.
There will always be a loser, even with the odds in their favour, but there are also winners who fight against all the odds.
Do not fall for the pretenders,
And,
Give the world hell if it tries to tell you your royal flush is not the highest hand,
For you only live once.
These words echo from every mum,
To their daughter across every land;
My bonnie princess,
Nae surrender,
Because, in our eyes, you are the winner.
Love mummy.
