Dave and I might as well be robots
as we stuff salad bags
to the back of the shelf:
all that matters is the sell-by date:

And I'm trying to concentrate
on these ungiving air puffed pillows
nestling their precious cargos
of Endive and Raddiccio,
Three Leaf or Herb (Large)
when I realise how quiet Dave is-
"Are you ok?"
"I wish the Deputy Manager would DIE" Dave says, so I ask "Why?"
"Because he told me off for laughing
out the back.
I hate this place!"
So, I say "LEAVE!"
"But I want to be promoted!"
and I ask him "What are you thinking of
wanting a job telling people not to laugh?"
