A Flaked Frame

A flaked, muddy window
a view of aerial wired rooftops
that I cannot afford
to frame anymore.
Sheet lightning phrases the sky
and thunder applauses
spotlighting me back
to an age of smiles.
Outside in the hall
I evaluate the stairs
to sit half way with you again
wishing for the stars
Are you as selfish now?
Do you still swap sunshine for rain?
