It had been a year today since it had happened.
It was old news so nobody talked about it anymore.
The day the only thing he cared about slipped from his grasp.
He still didn't understand. What had happened that he hadn't
seen?
Everything seemed so rite, as if nothing could have ever gone
wrong.
But something was wrong and he didn't know what that was. After it
happened he tried everything to put the pieces together but he couldn't
think of an explanation.
It had been a summer since it happened, a whole year of wandering, a
whole year of trying to figure out why.
He now had lying in his hands a letter from her that her mother
found.
It was addressed to him. He recognized her handwriting
immediately.
She has always preferred cursive; he smiled at all the curves of the
E's and S's that were written by her.
She was now gone and he couldn't do anything except wander what
happened?
He didn't know. All he knew was that underneath her beautiful smile
sadness had taken over her. She had told him once that he was her only
happiness and that nothing else mattered to her.
The why did she do what she did? What made her do something so
drastic?
What made her take away her life at such a young age?
He had no idea. He thought about her everyday questioning all the
possibilities.
When she was with him, it seemed as though nothing was wrong and that
the world was a beautiful place.
But one year ago she just ended it all without telling anyone.
But with this letter that her mother had only found now. Maybe
questions would be answered.
He turned the envelope slowly. Tearing it ever so gently, and slipping
out the light blue folded paper.
He didn't know why but tears were beginning to form behind his
eyes.
He unfolded it slowly and found the paper with her handwriting, the
handwriting he missed so much.
He began to read but was too afraid&;#8230;
"Hey there sugar pie
When you probably read this you would think that I am gone. I am very
sorry for not telling you before but I thought it would get
better.
I just want to tell you that it isn't you that made me do this horrible
thing.
We will be together someday and no, I don't mean up there in the sky
because I am not there exactly and DON'T worry I am not down there as
well.
I know you must be very confused. I faked it.
I didn't end at all. I just ran away making everyone think that I
through myself over a bridge.
But I didn't. I cat tell you exactly where I am now at the moment but I
can say that one year from where I "killed" myself. I will
return.
I have no idea when you would have read this; it all depends when my
mother starts snooping in my room.
I will explain everything when I have returned. I hope you are not
angry with what I did but after you have listened to why I did it I
think you will understand.
I am going to end this letter hoping that the year will go quickly so I
can be with you again.
I love you&;#8230;. REMEMBER that.
I LOVE YOU
Love
Your sweetie"
He couldn't believe it. The tears were rolling down his face.
He didn't know how to explain how he felt.
Shocked
Happy
Surprised
Overwhelmed
He folded up the letter and put it back in the envelope.
Suddenly the phone rang which made him jump.
He really didn't know what to expect.
He picked up the phone and with a shaky voice said hello.
"Hey, it's me"
It had been a year since he had heard her voice.
It had been a whole year and now everything was falling into
place.
He could smile again while saying "How are you"?
