Rain

Let it rain
let moist droplets
hammer my head
drench my hair
bond with me.
Nature's wet stampede
cooling the air
cleansing streets
flushing out arid corners -
cobwebs and congestion.
Indiscriminately binding us in a damp frenzy
people scurry for cover
rushing-off streets to shop-shelters
as brigades of multi-coloured umbrellas
open contumacious of the rain.
Cars and their bold, bulbs illuminate dark streets
robotic Wind-Screen-Wipers
systematically crush pellets of rain.
Whilst others sit in caf?s
warmly sipping their latt?s
and collectively moan about the weather.
But me -
Well I say let it rain!
Let it rain all over me
To feel the cathartic force of nature
against my cheek
to absorb heaven's tears
having percolated through the clouds
in their journey to enrich our earth
To see birds dunk and dive in pools of
glorious water
allowing children to wear shiny, red welly boots
jump-ing and splash-ing in puddles of fun.
And to just hear the sound
the thunderous, moving, rapturous sound of the rain.
