Into the void He came and His name was FYR.
Whether He was born there or came there from another place no man may ever know : it all began with FYR.
After a time when He had grown and started to order his existence He felt the need for company and bent His will towards that end.
First He created the GoldenLand and prepared it for the coming of The Companions. These First some might call Angels and they were of great power and beauty; being created partly from FYR HIMSELF in the earliest days before the dissipation caused by the Great Expansion. At that time the GoldenLand was a place of unmanageable power and vitality, where only FYR and His Friends stayed constant amidst the irresistible flux of change.
A myriad of creations popped into and out of existence as HE and HIS Companions altered this variable or changed that parameter. Slowly yet surely, by experimentation and intuition,
order and stability began to spread.
Little is known for certain about the early times, there have been many rumours and guesses and many tales purporting to come from one or other of the Companions of FYR. All that can be said for certain is that nothing lasts for ever, at least not without changing.
Some say that FYR left leaving the Companions to sustain and administer the GoldenLand, but this is highly unlikely as in many ways FYR was the Land.
Others say that one of the Companions, a favourite, set FYR a challenge to create lesser companions and, since they were to be lesser beings, to create a new land for them to dwell in.
Perhaps we shall never know why the Universe began, but begin it did and with a bang, a big bang.
With the coming of the Great Expansion came also the first signs of disharmony for the Companions could not agree as to exactly how it should be done.
Some say that FYR must have departed or it would have been better done, but most believe that FYR took on the roll of the GREAT ARBITER and allowed the Companions to shape the detail and destiny of Creation.
That HE gave more of HIS Power than of HIS Wisdom in order that the Companions might learn from their mistakes and thereby grow themselves through experience.
Whatever the arguments surrounding creation - one thing is certain. Fundamental Laws were laid down by FYR which underpin the very threads of existence of the Universe and everything in it. These cannot be changed and though the Companions are allowed to make and change Rules they have no power to alter the Laws. Some say that certain of the
Companions are in dispute with The ARBITER arguing that until the Laws can be changed not all the possible permutations and combinations can be tried and therefore much that could be learned is lost.
It is rumoured that some of The Companions, and maybe even FYR HIMSELF, had a favourite world where, at times, certain of the Companions took on physical form so that they might better interact with the lesser companions; who on this world were named Men. It was also said that some of the Companions took to living amongst men as Kings and Gods and that the strife that had started in the GoldenLand was thus brought in a more personal way, to bear on men.
Since the Companions were immortal and indestructible only their
physical bodies could be harmed, and then rarely. It is thought that because of this some of the Companions held little regard for the suffering and death of men, seeing it as it would be for themselves, only a transition back to their Eternal selves. Others of the Companions while understanding that to a great extent what their Brothers said was true, realised that the transition was of a different order for the lesser companions. In their compassion they formed a Great Alliance which attempted to lay down rules of behaviour for all the Companions who lived on, in, or visited the land of men.
The Great Alliance was never a total success for though most of the Companions came in the end to see the need for a system of rules. A few, but a very powerful few, argued as they had argued before - that there should be no limits on what they saw as an experiment. If there were : if their actions were limited so would be the results.
Some say that in desperation the leaders of the Great Alliance came upon the idea of creating a head dress, a thing made of the materials of men but imbued with a small portion of the power of each member of the Alliance. This head dress or crown as it was to become known, was to be worn by the chief member of the Alliance and used to neutralise any effort by any Companion to break the rules of the Alliance.
If the Companions ever did walk on the world of men, they have long since left and as for the rumour of the Great Alliance and the Crown Of Power...
