You never cared for poetry,
"I hate reading between the lines."
You were convinced,
if something was to be said
it was better said
to the point.
I tried to explain it
in the sciences that you understood,
"Atoms come together, collide
creating molecules that dance.
That's poetry."
You laughed,
told me to leave science to the scientists.
So I tried another way,
placing my hand on the curve beneath your neck
tracing the bone
softening into the skin above
and told you,
"That's poetry."
And I thought I had convinced you,
but you looked away,
out of the window
placing your hand over mine.
I should have known
we would never see eye to eye.
