Aliens Are Everywhere

Aliens are everywhere;
Raise the drawbridge, fill the moats!
They skulk around in every town
From here to John O'Groats!
They ride in on the Eurostar;
They creep ashore from boats
They dive and deal and beg and steal
To buy their winter coats.

But Romans once were aliens,
The Norman conquest too;
They came and left, and came and left
Their genes in me and you.
Then look at our Royal Family,
So British through and through!
With Germans, Greeks and mongrel geeks
From here to Timbuktu!

Aliens are everywhere;
Smell the coffee, join the dots!
They speak in foreign tongues just like
The Cornish, Welsh and Scots!
They live in khaki bungalows,
Hold mufti rendezvous,
Feel angst and schadenfreude
When amongst the parvenu.

And, for some peculiar reason,
They want to live with you!
