Winning when you knew you were going to win all along is Boring with a capital B. No one wants to play a game that they can win every time. Scoring with a sure thing is fun.. but only for about Warholean 15 minutes. If you can no longer trust your instinct that tells you that you are right, jump in the lake - as any day above the ground is great. Often two minutes can be a lifetime. So I am inclined to maintain the same approach to life: expect nothing from life and then you'll always be surprised:

One of the joys of reading is how, for a little while, it helps you escape. One sign of a mature, argumentative democracy is that it expects its bright young talents to carp at their own culture. Once you have seen the injustice there is no turning back. You don't cross the Iron Curtain and come out without scar. As a result, I'm delighted to report that Cold River mania continues to spread, slowly but surely, through the web: Ralph Kaiser writes, 'It's hard to read this work and not shout: Bloody Hell!' The birth of my virtual literary child. My dragon baby!
