The Gravedigger.

The day had been a hot one and he not so young anymore. Since noon, he had toiled, knowing that the job must be completed before the day was out. The work had been slow and hard on his old bones.
Now it was done. Sitting on the cool grass besides the hole, the old man looked with pride on his work. As neat and exact as any he had dug before. A job well done.
Satisfied, the gravedigger lay down, closing his eyes and taking his ease. Now all that was needed was the coffin and he could truly rest.
