Reluctance

Does a tree feel pain
When every spring,
it goes from dead
to alive?

The tight, hard bud
has something new
Green and fresh
Wound up inside.

Does the bud suffer reluctance?

To let go
to grow and change.
And be new.

Is it just us?

just me
Clinging to winter
Never dead
yet refusing to see
Every year
I change and grow
And am new.
