Turquoise

Water flares in jewelled wavelets round my kick
sliding silk over my knees
a pretty chaos of magical paint
Aquamarines making little curves and flips
transparent cellophane
collaged by a sideways shaft of light
For a moment I'm a mermaid
glorying in the strength of my glittering tale
I told Sagas in song, haunting ballads of heroes
vaunting valour,honour, selflessness
but I had to flick my hair and go
and the song faded into mist
