Tony Dunne has written a letter to his children.
He has used 27,000 words. He doesn’t care
if they don’t read it. He gave them a draft
last Christmas. They didn’t.
Tony Dunne’s computer crashed
and now he only has 23.
He plans 20+ for the next part
dictated by a new wife hopefully.
Tony Dunne has 80,000 photos.
He will not suggest a slideshow
and doesn’t know if anyone
will ever go through each one.
Tony Dunne can remember everything.
On his 11+ they asked him to finish
the phrase: where there’s a will...
and he wrote: there’s a death.
Tony Dunne has found enigmas
in his family tree: drafted letters
to a dead friend and postcards
sent in the 1930s from Italy.
Tony Dunne thinks if he just had an imagination
he would stuff the gaps with stories,
his wife would look at him
and he’d sleep better for it.
