New here so am still trying to figure this site.
Daddy sailed the ocean
Daddy's name was Mac
He went around the world
And he always came back
Came home long enough
To do my momma in
Got her with child
and then left again
Mac came home not too often
But the last time he came
It was in a coffin.
I remember Daddy
When I was just a kid
Too bad Daddy
See what ya did?
I never got to know him
And that was a shame
But I know one thing
I still have his name.
Good ole Mac
Can't take it back
Gotta love the man
That put my mama in the sack
Sail away, sail away...Mac might come home someday.

This is great - very moving.
This is great - very moving. I read it first in my accent and I couldn't get the feeling of it but then I checked your profile and thought let's read it to myself in my best attempt at an American accent and then I think I could feel the feeling in it. It feels like the words of a song - could it be set to music perhaps?

I liked this too. This bit
I liked this too.
This bit particulalry had an odd metre to it, is it meant to be a song?

Either way, song or poem it's a great first piece, and welcome to the site.

Yes, I think a bluesy thing
Yes, I think a bluesy thing would work. Why not send it to your favourite singer-songwriter and see if they'll set it to music for you? Just a thought.
