My colleague, I know I don’t have the right to say this to someone so perfect like you but I still need to voice this out although you’ll never know that this is for you. You see, your boyfriend talked to me and he sent these alarming signals of romantic persuasion. I honestly don’t need this kind of crap now because I’m seriously into nursing school. Well, we are all in nursing school and it’s our 3rd year so we have to be really serious about stuff.

He isn’t the type of guy I would date. You know that he’s my classmate in 4th grade. I was never close to him. I wasn’t even aware of the boy’s world when I was in 4th grade. Lately, he told me he had a crush on me since the day he laid eyes on me. I was surprised with his confession. He never talked to me and I rarely talked to him when we were younger, so why confess now when he has a rather perfect girlfriend?

I do not like the rumors I heard about you getting irritated by my presence. I never did anything bad to you. I even think that you make a really nice couple with him. Don’t ever think that I want to steal him from you. I do not want to hurt your boyfriend by ignoring him. You know how sensitive he is.

I just want to tell you that he seeks imperfection and silly little flaws. Unfortunately he found those in me. He said he wants someone who’s simple and a little geeky. He wants someone to snub him every now and then. He longs for a girl who doesn’t always say yes. He fancies a girl who would say embarrassing things accidentally and would only laugh at her mistakes instead of saying sorry over and over. He is amused by a girl who bites her uncolored nails without even knowing why. He thinks it’s cool for a girl to burp and say that’s the best burp she’s ever had. He is entertained by a girl who will dress up casually and not put make up all the time. Finally, he wants a girlfriend who looks like me.

I really pity him because I have no romantic love for him. I only consider him as a friend. He has the looks and he’s charming and responsible. He has everything a girl can ask for, but it’s me who resists him because I know for a fact you would cry if he leaves you. He wants someone to be comfortable with. I advice you to be less perfect, if you can help it. Show your flaws. Show the real you before waking up in the morning. Eat like a horse when you are hungry and don’t mind his presence when you sneeze. Meet him with your hair undone. I tell you this because these are the things he likes about me.

Don’t let him fall out of love. Don’t let a good thing go to waste. I know you’ll be the first person he will turn to when I break his heart. You’ve been his best friend for years. I can’t accept all his sweetness. I can’t love him because he’s too perfect for me. I know the way he feels about you because that’s also the way I feel about him. He is just way too perfect for me and I can’t bear to be with someone like him.

We’re not close but I really hope I can make you read this so you will better understand the way things are. No one is perfect. If you really want perfection, don’t lose your beloved boyfriend while reaching it.
