My day.

This was it; the day I have been waiting for all my life. They had called me up to the waiting room; I felt as if I was in purgatory. My happiness, my dignity, and my everything came down to this precious moment. Ask yourself how you would feel if your life were dangling on an effete, enervated, simple piece of string. That is exactly how I felt at this precise moment. However it was all so simple – just do what I had come to do. I was well trained and they don’t let just anyone do this therefore I must be good.
I could hear the desolate tones of an old man booming his voice into a microphone. My legs seemed to be moving without me. I walked cautiously up to the block. I know it seems crazy but I was convinced that for a split second the block came to life and was looking. Just looking, with its beady eyes.
Before I knew it I was on this block looking down into the bottomless pit below me. I could see amazing things. The ripples were showing me their sparkles – it was entrancing. But then as if I wasn’t expecting it, the electronic beep pierced my ears.
