She’s here; don’t look.
That’s a new teddy.
Oh, it’s lovely,
Where did you get it?
She gets one a month
Or so
When they wear out or rot away.
Balloons every week,
They blow off as oft as
She ties them on.
Windmills, flowers – don’t last
Two minutes.
You’ve done it lovely, yes.
Walk over there,
You don’t want to be here
When she starts crying.
You’d think, after eleven years…
